2009-10 Pens & Pins Online Auction for Charity
The Pittsburgh Penguins Wives Association hosted their second annual Pens & Pins Charity Bowling Tournament for the benefit of Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater PA & Southern WV. Once again, it was a huge success! Not only did the participants have a great time bowling with their 2009-10 Penguins team, through their support, they also helped raise money to fulfill wishes of Make-A-Wish children in our local area.
The tournament featured Penguins players serving as celebrity team captains for each competing bowling team. Each player signed the bowling shirt that he wore that evening, plus a team signed bowling shirt and team signed bowling pin. Fans that were not able to take part in the fun at Pens & Pins will be able to bid on those unique prizes by clicking here. All proceeds will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater PA & Southern WV.
The auction will run from Friday, January 29 until noon on Friday, February 12. Once the auction concludes and purchasers have been processed through Pay Pal by the NHL, the items will begin shipping within two (2) business days via UPS Ground.
Please take a moment to review your bid amount before submitting. Any errors in the amount are the responsibility of the bidder and any bid submitted is considered binding by Pay Pal and the National Hockey League. Please note that you do not need a Pay Pal account to bid on an auction item, but you will be prompted to enter your credit card information before you are declared the winning bidder.
Crosby’s Confidence Vaults Him Among Goal Leaders
Remember earlier this season when there was some concern that Sidney Crosby had lost his scoring touch?
Yes, from Oct. 31 through Nov. 10, a five-game span, Crosby was scoreless, nary a goal nor an assist. Egads! What was happening? Was the sky falling? Was this called for in the Mayan calendar?
All worries can now be put aside. Crosby not only has “rediscovered” his scoring touch, but he may well break the marks for offensive excellence we have come to expect from No. 87.
Following a 4-point night against the Sabres Monday, which included his third hat trick of the season, Crosby now has 37 goals for the season, tying him with San Jose’s Patrick Marleau for the NHL lead. That puts Crosby just 2 goals behind his career mark of 39 goals set in 2005-06. He also has 34 assists in 56 games this season, so another 100-point season seems assured.
