Pitt cop helps Cup bearers find Lemieux's house

A University of Pittsburgh policeman says he got his picture taken with hockey’s Stanley Cup when its handlers became lost and asked him for directions to the home of Pittsburgh Penguins owner and former star Mario Lemieux.

Officer Andy Redman says he was skeptical at first when two men in a sport utility vehicle flagged him down near the campus in the city’s Oakland section on Monday. That’s several miles away from Sewickley, the upscale suburb where Lemieux lives west of the city.

The men, from the Hockey Hall of Fame, then showed Redman the cup and let him get his picture taken with it.

Redman escorted the men to a nearby highway that would lead to Lemieux’s home where they delivered the cup for a private party with the players, coaches and their families.
