If Sidney Crosby is presented the Stanley Cup on Friday night, it will mark the first time he’s ever touched the fabled trophy or had his picture taken in its presence.
“Never photographed with it. Had a couple of chances to go to the Hockey Hall of Fame. Joey DiPenta [of the Anaheim Ducks] actually had a Stanley Cup party in my hometown, so I didn’t make it to the party and I didn’t get a photograph with it,” Crosby said Thursday with a grin. “Everyone knows that you try to stay away from it until you get the opportunity to really do it yourself.”

This is what Sidney Crosby has been waiting for all his life.
Crosby’s Pittsburgh Penguins held off the Detroit Red Wings 2-1 on Tuesday night to win Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final, forcing a seventh and deciding game Friday night back in Detroit.
Crosby, who logged 17:54 of ice time on 24 shifts and won 56 percent of his faceoffs, was all smiles at the podium during the post-game news conference while sitting alongside goalie Marc-Andre Fleury — the game’s first star.
